Katy, who was once a regular writer here at HHH has been busy with her own unique ministry that she and her husband began. Sure! My name is Katy Goede. I used to be a regular blogger on Holy Hen House, but I stepped away from blogging as my husband and I started Chosen Gen – a ministry fighting for the next generation by encouraging and equipping parents to pass on their faith to their kids.
My husband Justin and I have been married a lovely and imperfect 13 years. We are the parents of five amazing children that keep our lives very loud and fun. A little over a year ago, Justin left his corporate job to lead Chosen Gen full-time. I work alongside him and also homeschool our five kids. It’s been a wild adventure, but we wouldn’t change it for anything.
CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE MORE ABOUT CHOSEN GEN?
The next generation of the church is in serious danger. Chosen Gen was born out of a burden God put on our hearts to do something about it. Three out of five kids growing up in Christian homes walk away from the faith by the time they become adults. That statistic is staggering if you stop and think about it. It’s easy to come up with human solutions that make Christianity more appealing to young people. But if we want to see victory with the next generation, they don’t need more of us or our ideas. They need more of God and his Word. Chosen Gen exists to equip parents to rise up as followers of Jesus knowing and living out God’s Word, and discipling their kids to do the same.

All of us as parents launch into the parenting journey with many hopes and dreams. Yet so often the most important job we’ve been given – equipping our kids to know and follow Jesus – gets pushed to the side as other worldly pressures get in the way. Discipleship Parenting Foundations is an encouragement to stop getting carried along by the world and return to the biblical foundations that impact how we parent.
WHAT ARE YOU HOPING TO ACCOMPLISH THROUGH THIS BOOK?
No one sets off to purchase a house, go on a vacation, or plan a big event without thinking through the steps of how to get there. Yet, when it comes to parenting, we might know that we want our kids to stay in the faith as adults, but have we thought through the steps we will take to make this a priority? This book is meant to help parents stop and consider their lives and parenting in light of biblical truths. Are the daily actions of our lives leading our kids to be Jesus followers or world followers?

Justin and I love the Bible and we love talking about spiritual matters together!
