There Is a Time

There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven…

One day we are formed deep inside our mother’s womb
One day our earthly bodies will rest inside a tomb
In between the sun may rise and the sun may set
But it’s He who makes sure all our needs are met
Some may have more and others less
It’s not up to us to decide how He chooses to bless

We learn to crawl, walk, run, and ride a bike
Then we watch as our grandchildren do the like
We eat to grow, become able and strong
We exercise that this short life we might prolong
Though it’s only Him who has counted our days
He knows if we’ll live to see our hairs turn to gray

Our smiles begin after only a few months of life
Then for year after year we are covered in strife
Many stories are spoken to us from the ‘days of old’
Then different stories from our days to our children are told
We are filled to the brim with kisses, hugs and love
None that outweigh His grace showered from above
His actions are never false, never used to trick or harm
He shields us from hurt and all that tries to alarm

Here on earth there is sin and hatred to be seen
Contrasting the eternity of peace that’s always been
Just waiting for us when our days have run out here
No more to worry or wonder, to panic or fear
Only days spent with Him not far but so near

Who is this “He” that is good and knows all?
Who catches us each and every time that we fall?
Where might we seek Him and find Him to be true?
Where can we see all the wonder He can do?

To see Him we turn to the left and the right
Gaze at the mountains and see all His might.
Listen to the wind as it swooshes and whistles
Feel the grass under foot as it squishes or bristles.
Everywhere you look, all the sounds that you hear,
The food that you taste and the smells that drift near.
He is there. He is close. He is always around.

His story is written and there you will find
That you are the sheep He just couldn’t leave behind.
His name carries power, it is fame, it is grand
Speak it and see glory spill from His hand
From His feet from His side that were pierced just for you
He gave up His place of glory, He gave His life too
All so that He’d never have to spend a moment without you.

Lord of Lords, Prince of Peace, Almighty is His name
Jesus, Messiah, the Christ - all the same
Shout it out loud, let it be heard
Of its power and might you can be assured.

So whether this day is up or it’s down
Lift up your head & fix your golden crown.
Because Jesus, yes, He, has won it for you
And there’s nothing on earth that He wouldn’t do
To make sure His name is written on your heart
He’s loved you each day from the very start.

So live out your life knowing that His name,
“Jesus” makes men walk who used to be lame
Jesus, He makes the blind man to see
The waters to part and slaves be set free.
Oh, yes, there is a time for everything,
But “Jesus” forever is the name that we’ll sing!
