SPUR ON is a 1-day conference to launch girls (10+) and women on mission with Jesus. We have God’s Word to show us the way, grace to navigate life’s challenges, and a sisterhood to cheer us on! Together we can impact generations.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • a lively day out with Christian women of all stages.

  • snacks and refreshments available throughout the day.

  • words of inspiration from Christian writers and speakers.

  • a benefit to donate new or gently used shoes to Africa for those in need through Soles For Jesus.

  • a catered lunch from OUT & OUT

    • AMERICANO CIABATTA ROLL - chicken, roasted red bell peppers, spinach, fresh mozzarella, + garlic mayo. Served with chips and a cookie.
      |OR|

    • OUT IN THE FIELD SALAD W/ CHICKEN - greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, chicken, + buttermilk ranch. Served with dressing on the side, a wedge of bread, butter, and a cookie.

  • live music by talented musicians.

  • a Q+A panel to discuss and answer relevant questions in a live setting.

  • shopping opportunities including giveaways from our sponsors and vendors!

  • and most of all - the confidence to walk the talk with Jesus in our stride.

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may SPUR one another ON toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
— Hebrews 10:23-25

CONFERENCE SPEAKERS

Leaning In When Life Gets Hard

SAMANTHA SCHROTH

"Sometimes God has bigger plans for us than even we can see." Life rarely happens the way we plan, so how do we manage when our world seems to be falling apart? How do we be "the shoulder to cry on" for a friend when we have no idea what to say? What does it mean to lean on God when it feels like he's no where to be found? With the help of biblical examples and personal experience, get ready to take a closer look at faith in trials and offering helpful encouragement to our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Samantha Schroth, a 27-year-old Appleton, WI native understands this fact on an intimate level when she incurred a spinal cord injury in a freak accident at the age of 21. Now a paraplegic and medical student, Sam is learning what it means to live in faith of God’s love and HIS plan for her life. Her life has changed in a way she never expected, but is continually reminded of and amazed by the way God cares and provides for his children, regardless of their life situation. Find more of her writings at her personal blog, Never Sitting Still.

Broken By Sin - Built Up In Him

REBECCA WENDLAND WITH DAUGHTERS HANNAH + BETHANY

What do you bring to our heavenly Father for fixing?

We come to our Lord for help, strength and encouragement as He uses our lives for His purpose and glory. We ask for pardon for our past, purpose for the present and encouragement for our future as we see the Day approaching.

I Thessalonians 5:11 reminds us to, “Encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”

Rebecca Wendland and her 2 daughters, Hannah (19) and Bethany (10), are thankful children of God. Their family called Malawi, Africa home for 14 years as missionaries. Together they share a passion to share Jesus anywhere in the world. Rebecca is the author of the book,
Bloom Where God Plants You.

BREAKOUT #1 SESSIONS

Freedom from Comparison

SAM SIEVERT

Why her? Why not me?
These questions constantly plague our minds and leave us feeling empty. There is never a winner in comparison, so why do we do it?

When our sinful nature, deeply rooted in comparison and competition, yearns for fulfillment,  we can turn and look to the Author of Life who is writing a more beautiful story for us than we could have ever imagined.

Teaming Up to Defeat
Digital Dependence

ERIN BANASZAK

We all know that person who seems to constantly check their phone. It’s an extension of their body – always attached. Maybe that person resembles your child, your coworker, your spouse… or maybe even you!? This session will encourage you to recognize the warning signs and behaviors of digital dependence, as well as give you an opportunity to write a personalized “Connection Contract” to help keep digital dependence under your control.

From Generation to Generation: Who Me, a Mentor?

MARILYN SIEVERT

If you are a woman who loves Jesus and have life experiences to share, whether single or married, whether you have children or not, then you qualify as a woman who has directives from scripture to be a spiritual mama or a mentor to women around you. This presentation will include many personal stories, the source of confidence to be a mentor, and the practical how-to's of women mentoring women. Your sisters in Christ need you to step up to this challenge! Find out ways to do it authentically and naturally.

BREAKOUT #2 SESSIONS

I Am Who I Am

MEGAN SAMELSON

“Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”
Exodus 3:11

Despite God’s constant reassurances, there were times when even Moses doubted his ability and role in the Lord's plan for him. Peer pressure, insecurity, fear, steady excuses and lack of faith — sound familiar?

In today’s ever-shifting world of Instagram models and social stress, it is far too easy for us to lose sight of who we are within Christ’s kingdom. By diving into his word and drawing similarities between biblical and modern stories of faith, we can fight off the identity crisis of doubt and grow in assurance of who we are in Christ, the great I AM.

Anxiety and Depression: the Struggle, the Strategy + the Strength

MELISSA KREUSER

There is a difference between being "nervous about the future" and true anxiety. Simply "having a bad day" is different than being truly "depressed". But how do you know if you or someone you know is wrestling with a mental illness and what can you do about it?

Although increasing in social awareness, the topic of mental health (and particularly its struggles) continues to be somewhat hush-hush. In this breakout session, we'll talk about how to recognize anxiety and/or depression, strategies to cope or assist others in coping and ways to see these weaknesses actually as a blessing from our heavenly Father (what???)!

A World Mission Heart Right at Home

AMANDA ROSE

Think you have to be overseas to share Jesus with those in need? Think again! We are all included in the Great Commission to tell others about Jesus. We have the same call but the way we live it out will look different from one another.

Come join the conversation as we:
- discuss practical ways to cultivate a mission heart.
- consider the barriers that exist from sharing the gospel in our culture.
- and get inspired as we view our ordinary lives through Jesus’ extraordinary purposes!

We don’t have to go across the world to be on mission with Jesus. Christ is in and present with us by faith even now! He works through us wherever we are standing.

SPONSORS + VENDORS

BRING AN EXTRA PAIR OF SHOES!

We will be hosting a shoe drive for Soles For Jesus! New or gently used shoes are accepted. SFJ exists to share the love of Christ by distributing shoes to the underserved in sub Saharan Africa.

These people are not asking for a bicycle, vehicle, bus pass, or some other form of transportation that we are accustomed to in our western world. They simply need a pair of shoes that properly fit them, so they can protect their feet as they walk. What a simple mission! How many containers of shoes do we have in our homes that are unused or outgrown? The mission of SFJ is to gather these shoes and send them to Africa, making a radical difference in the life of a child or adult. By collecting shoes that are hiding in closets and basements across our nation, we can provide hope and diminish disease for thousands.  The pairs that we donate will be a life-changing treasure across the globe.

Along with collecting shoes, SFJ also asks us to get involved in sending them. It costs about $2 to send each pair to Africa. Let’s raise $2 for every pair of shoes collected to help send them to Africa! When you arrive there will be a large barrel to put the shoes in and a volunteer nearby to collect $2 for each pair that you donate. Thank you for making a difference!
