reminders

hhh collage 3 I'm a forgetful girl.

When I first meet you, I might just forget your name. It's not you, it's me. I'm a Name Forget-er. I'm getting better, though, and try try try to speak the name and then slip it into the conversation at least twice while I'm chatting with the person. Names are tough, especially when I'm meeting a slew of new folks at once.

If I don't write something down right away, I'm in trouble. Appointments. Favors for friends. Meeting times. School news. Changes in schedule. Drop-this-offs. So I'm forever scribbling lists and jotting down things on stray pieces of paper and adding notes in margins.

Reminders are my best friend.

I don't stop there.

There are lovely, important reminders around every corner, in every room of our home. The big chalk board in our kitchen has love well written in my imperfect cursive. Love is spoken here hangs in the hallway. The guest room wall holds I have a reason to sing. You have been given today is taped to the fridge door. On the shelf in the living room sits a frame with You shall see wonders.  I could go on and on.

All for a forgetful, sinful, saved girl.

I don't stop there.

Each morning, I clasp delicate reminders around my neck. Snap SHINE around my wrist. Slip be a blessing over my head and place the words over my heart. I wear these around all day and they bring a song to my heart. A smile to my face. A warming to my heart. A prompt to my hands and feet. I am reminded of Who I belong to. Of Where I find my worth. Of what He asks of me.

Reminders for a forgetful, sinful, saved girl.

My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart. ~Proverbs 4:20-21
