I have a “behind the scenes” look at a life dedicated to ministry. As you have guessed - my husband (and your pastor too!) is imperfect and certainly has his flaws but he also has unique gifts that God has prepared to use for His purposes.
Do you think he has some spiritual warfare aimed directly at him? You bet.
Even though I’m closer to my husband than anyone else (second to Jesus) I do not regularly pray for my husband and his role as a pastor as often as I should. Let’s just say #pastorappreciationmonth inspired me to get back into the ring and stand by my man.
So! Married to your pastor or not! Stand by him and join me in prayer:
DEAR LORD,
You are faithful to us. We are not sheep without a shepherd. We have a pastor that leads us to Your Son, Jesus. Often I take him and our church for granted. I can get distracted or concerned about trivial things. Help me see that pastor is Your child too - in need of love and support. It is Your servant that I pray for. I PRAY…
THAT PASTOR SHARES THE FORGIVENESS OF JESUS NOT ONLY WITH OTHERS BUT ALSO HIMSELF.
THAT PASTOR TRUSTS IN YOU WITH ALL HIS HEART AND DOESN’T LOOK TO HIMSELF TO BE THE SAVIOR.
THAT THE WEIGHT OF CONFIDENTIAL STORIES IS NOT CARRIED BY PASTOR’S SHOULDERS.
THAT PASTOR FINDS ACCEPTANCE - FIRST - IN YOU, LORD.
THAT PASTOR STAYS ALERT TO SATAN’S TEMPTATIONS THAT MAKE HIM DOUBT OR FALL AWAY.
THAT PASTOR ASKS FOR HELP WHEN HE NEEDS IT AND THAT HE FINDS THE HELP HE NEEDS.
THAT PASTOR’S FAMILY IS DRAWN CLOSER TO YOU BY HIS SERVANT LEADERSHIP AND GENUINE CARE AT CHURCH AND HOME.
THAT PASTOR INVESTS IN HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH YOU SO THAT MINISTRY DOESN’T BECOME ANOTHER TASK TO CHECK OFF.
THAT PASTOR IS CONTINUALLY GROWING IN HIS FAITH AND PERSEVERES TO THE END.
