What if They Had

These colors don't run

We've heard it said

But what if they did

And what if they had

What if those who died

Had lacked the might

Heart and courage

Said, "I will not fight."

They left their homes

And all they knew

To stand up for justice

The Red, White, Blue

Life would be different

So different indeed

Without freedom to worship

Or to believe

Our faith would be secret

Our voices not heard

Our lives a prison

Our futures blurred

To give their lives

For those never met

A hand never shook

May we never forget

For today we honor

Those who gave

All they had, all they could

Just to save.
