A Christmas Prayer

Isaiah 40: 28-31, "Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God,the Creator of the ends of the earth.

He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

a christmas prayer

Heavenly Father, The Christmas season is upon us! What wonder and beauty the month of December holds, help us to embrace it-- to look to the cold as an excuse to cuddle closely to our loved ones and use the snow as an excuse to have childlike exuberance. Help us to see the peace and joy in this season and to not lose our focus in the frenzy of parties, gift-giving, and home-making. Help us to be grateful and not ambivalent to all of our bountiful blessings. Lord, be with those that are without this season--those without shelter and food, those separated from their families, those without any close family or friends. Hold them close and give them rest and peace in You. Help us to give joyfully, receive gratefully, laugh loudly, love unconditionally, and worship wholeheartedly. Help us to remember and rejoice as we celebrate the birth of your dear son, our Savior. Thank you for our salvation and forgiveness. Thank you for Jesus. Amen.
